Individualized Learning

We provide the flexibility to meet each student’s individual learning needs in a comfortable and relaxed setting, where students progress as they demonstrate mastery.

Small Group Project-Based Learning

Our small instructional setting allows our instructors the opportunity to offer physical support through small-group instruction, project-based learning, and individualized academics.

Curriculum

Skill-oriented subjects such as Language Arts and Math are taught at each student’s pace, while teachers provide students the tools and instruction needed to transition smoothly into any program by following grade level learning standards in all five core subjects. Project-based and hands-on learning is a big part of our Sciences curriculum, and student interest is taken into account during lesson planning in order to build love for learning.

Dyslexia Program

Our teachers are trained to use the Orton Gillingham approach, the oldest and best researched method for teaching those with dyslexia. We follow explicit, intensive and multisensory methods along with systematic and direct instruction in phonemic awareness, fluency and spelling rules.

Parent Communication & Assessments

SALT’s small school setting allows for easier and more consistent communication with our school families. We do not promote standardized testing in any way as it is against what we stand for, individuality. However, our teachers do assess student progress throughout the school year within the curriculum and grade standards.

Technology-%26-Software.jpg

Technology & Software

At SALT we believe technology is a great tool for learning, but recognize that the teacher is still the most important player in ensuring a student’s path to success. Though it’s important to acknowledge the limits of technology in the classroom, we do not advocate banning technology altogether. SALT uses adaptive learning software for enrichment starting in second grade. Adaptive learning software helps ensure that students fully understand each concept before moving forward. This software is carefully managed by the teacher, continually differentiating for students in real-time and letting students move at their own pace.
